Electro Acupunture
What is Electro-Acupuncture?
If a patient has chronic pain I may look at using electro-acupuncture which involves application of low-level electrical current between two acupuncture needles offering constant stimulation of the chosen acupuncture points.
Electro-acupuncture is similar to traditional acupuncture in the sense the same points are used and stimulated, but an electrical current is run from the electro-machine through cables and attached with clamps to the heads of the acupuncture needles.
The needles are inserted gently as per normal acupuncture but with the attachment of the electro machine you will receive a continuous electrical pulse into the needles.
What does Electro-Acupuncture feel like?
I always tell my clients that it feels like a buzz or a tingle similar to when your arm or leg goes to sleep. I always ensure I let the patient know what cords will be turned on and when so you are in control over how high the machine goes to ensure you do not feel uncomfortable during the treatment. Generally the sensation feels like it fades over time but rest assured it is still working perfectly fine.
